Copenhagen Uncalled For

The one city I was really looking forward to seeing was Copenhagen but we decided not to call in on this occasion. We had worn ourselves out in Oslo and our little legs could not cope with another strenuous day of walking. But as it turned out we had a fabulous day on board ship. On port days the ship is so quiet and uncrowded, you feel like you are on your own private yacht! We went up to the Solarium and had a soak in the hot tub, took in some sunshine and then had a leisurely lunch in an empty Windjammer dining room. There were a couple of other ships in port and we could see some interesting buildings in the distance, worth a visit one day. They decided to have a staff training day on manning the life boats and we got to watch them from our balcony release the boats down into the water. Worryingly the life boat we are assigned to, C10, would not release itself so we were very glad they were doing a practice run to get the kinks out of the system, just in case!
A smallish service boat pulled alongside and must have been refuelling us with energy of some sort. When we were pulling out of harbour, (again being backed out, amazing steering skills turning us round without hitting the pier), the seagulls started swooping down on the balconies getting close enough to touch and giving us the beady eye. I wanted to try to capture the look but they flew too fast but here are a couple of shots. We really did see them up close and personal.
When you at sea there is always so much to watch. The waves are quite high at times and we watched a trawler almost get covered by one. We have also seen pirate ships and naval vessels. And the Rotterdam passed us and the two ships blew there horns in chorus which was amusing.
We headed back toward Oslo rather confusingly but this was because we were going to go round Zealand to kill some time I think and to enable us to go under the Great Belt Bridge with only a few feet of clearance. You felt like you could reach up and touch the underside. We went under just after midnight which interfered with our beauty sleep!
