First night on board

I would love to be able to show you around the ship but actually all we’ve done is eat and drink! But I promise tomorrow we’ll have photos of the ship. The paintings are awesome. We received an email from Royal Caribbean to say please don’t arrive before your allocated time which was 1pm. So being from Yorkshire we arrived at 11:50 and went through check in with great speed so that we were on board by 10 past 12 and headed straight for the Windjammer cafeteria. This was definitely not Len’s scene. Too crowded, too much choice, but we managed a really nice light lunch washed down with champagne. We got in our stateroom at 1pm and unpacked what we had and met our steward, Iwayan from Indonesia. He found our accents confusing and said we didn’t sound like we were from the UK! Muster was at 4 and we met a lovely couple from Los Angeles who was on something like their 10th cruise. We watched the sail away from our balcony. I am constantly amazed how they manage to back these big ships up and turn them in such small spaces without banging into the pier. But we did and were soon off into the English Channel and ready for dinner at 6. We opted for My Time Dining so can choose when to eat. They gave us a brilliant table by the window and our waiter was Evangelisto from India. The food was excellent. I had the salmon and Len had chicken masala. We talked about not having pudding as we have had rather a lot to drink already but then discovered there was sugar free crumble and sugar free ice cream. And it was so good.
We decided to spend the evening in the Star Lounge and participated in the Big Quiz and scored a massive 9 out of 20! We did not win the star prize which was a RC pen! Thank goodness! Now we are listening to The Vendettas before we hit the sack. See you tomorrow.

    1. We are rocking and rolling and I am not talking about the dancing kind! I went to the loo and really felt the ship rolling back and forth! It’s the English Channel after all.
